8 Inch Projectiles

As I mentioned before, our primary mission on the East Ramp was to ship artillery ammunition for the U.S. Army. In the next series of photos, I'll show you some of the ammunition that we handled. This photo shows 8" artillery projectiles, or "PJs" as we called them. Each projectile weighed about 200 pounds and could be fired to a distance of about ten miles.
