East End of Bien Hoa Air Base
One day I had an opportunity to go for a ride on what was called the perimeter road. It ran around the runway on the north side of Bien Hoa Air Base. I took my camera along and was able to get pictures of parts of the base that most guys didn't get a chance to see very often.
This picture shows the area where the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese tried to overrun the base during the Tet Offensive. I'll talk more about that later.
